Scooter Braun has spoken out for the first time since his public feud with Taylor Swift in a new interview with Billboard, in which he discusses his Big Machine acquisition.

The talent manager, who represents megastars Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato, covers this week's issue of the magazine with former Big Machine Records owner Scott Borchetta to discuss the multi-million dollar deal he signed earlier this month, which includes ownership of the majority of Swift's music catalog.

The outlet noted that "neither would comment on Swift's reaction or the resulting drama," which involved multiple celebrities taking sides in the feud after the "You Need to Calm Down" singer accused Braun of "bullying" her in a scathing Tumblr post.

Instead, Braun explained why the deal is so important to the future of music.

"[The deal is] the first move of many in building an ecosystem that allows artists to go after their dreams," he said. "Scott runs an incredible company, and we're trying to build an artist-first environment and—in a climate with a lot of players—get the leverage we need to help our creators go after their dreams. By combining what Scott had with what we had, we feel like we’re in a unique position to fight the good fight."

Though Braun didn't address his ongoing beef with Swift, he did recall the first time he met the pop star in 2010: "Everyone at Big Machine—Taylor was kind, Scott was kindeveryone was kind to me and Justin when we were doing that show, and you don’t forget those things," he said. "I never forgot that, and we started a friendship."
