Back in October, Selena Gomez was stripped of her "Most Followed Person on Instagram" title by Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo; however, she was still the most followed woman on the social media platform. On Monday (February 25), she was dethroned.

Ariana Grande has been topping all kinds of lists this year, and now she can add "Most Followed Woman on Instagram" to that list. As Billboard points out, the "7 Rings" singer has garnered just enough followers to top Gomez, with her 146,267,801 just beating out the singer/actress' 146,286,173.

The feat shouldn't come as too much of a surprise with Grande's hyper social media activity promoting both Sweetener and thank u, next. She has reportedly racked up 13 million new followers in the past four months alone.

Conversely, Gomez announced a break from social media back in September, and has used Instagram sparingly since then, only sharing five posts since unplugging. The pop star has been more concerned with her physical and emotional health than being in the spotlight over the past year; however, she did recently tease a collaboration with J Balvin, so her musical comeback could be just around the corner.
