A New Haven For Senior Dogs Is Coming To Walters
Folks in Walters, Oklahoma are hard at work making animal's lives better. While many of us are celebrating the work of Wallie Breaden, there's another celebration right behind it! For those who have a soft spot for senior dogs, you're going to want to hear about the new sanctuary soon to be built in Walters.
Staff at the soon-to-be senior dog sanctuary, W. H. Pletch Sanctuary, shared the news today, Tuesday, May 20, about the first steps to making a dream come true. While today we're celebrating their first sign, there's hope that we could be celebrating more for them in June.
Oklahomans generally have a soft spot for animals, but dogs specifically.
Per their public announcement via Facebook, the staff at W. H. Pletch Sanctuary are excited to see the beginning of what once was just a dream slowly become reality.
"Today is a day we’ll never forget—our very first sign is up at W. H. Pletch Sanctuary! For us, it’s so much more than a sign. It’s the first step toward creating a safe place for senior dogs who deserve love, comfort, and a home."
The sanctuary will be a quiet, calm place for senior pups in Oklahoma to spend their days, in honor of the owner's father. They described him as someone with a "quiet, steady love for old dogs."
"He believed every dog, no matter their age, deserved to feel safe, wanted, and at home," they said.
Now, the sanctuary will provide the home that their father wanted so badly to provide for the slow-stepping, grey-faced critters we call family in the sooner state.

Although the staff at the sanctuary are keeping details under wraps, they were able to tell us that they are working to become a 501(c)(3). The ground has been surveyed and is ready for ground work. But the rest, they intend on releasing during the coming weeks.
