Severe Storms Return to Southwest Oklahoma
You may have woken up this morning with an alert on your phone about a flood watch and then you looked out the window at another bright, sunny day in Oklahoma. Well, it won't be bright and sunny for much longer as severe storms will move in this afternoon and evening bringing hail, high winds and heavy rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, strong to severe storms are expected from this afternoon through late this evening across southwest Oklahoma and western/north Texas. These storms are predicted to bring damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall.
As with all weather, trying to predict the exact time the weather will start is pretty much impossible. So for today's weather, the National Weather Service in Norman is predicting that the earliest start of severe weather will be 2 p.m. with the most likely time ranging from 5-10 p.m. but the storms should be done by midnight.
Although, I'd still advise you to sleep with your shoes by your bed. Tornado chances may be very low, but you never know! And no one wants to run out to the cellar with no shoes on, especially when heavy rain is possible.
A good majority of Oklahoma is sitting at a slight risk of flash flooding with the storms that will roll in this afternoon/evening.
The National Weather Service in Norman said in a Facebook post that the combination of widespread rains this past week and the potential for at least one round of heavy storms may cause flash flooding in some areas of western and southwest Oklahoma.
When looking at the latest drought monitor, it looks like the areas expected to receive heavy rain today are the ones that need it!
And it looks like we're expected to have another wet weekend in Oklahoma. But we won't complain about the rain for now!
