Steven Tyler Solo Show to Air on PBS’ ‘Front and Center’ Series
Steven Tyler's solo concert calendar is filling up slowly, but while fans wait for the Aerosmith frontman to take his new material on the road, they can get a sample of his upcoming record — and hear some of the band's hits in a new setting — courtesy of the PBS series Front and Center.
KBWE reports that Tyler's episode of Front and Center is set to air Feb. 29, and will consist of highlights from his acoustic concert at the Melrose Ballroom in New York City last fall. (Ultimate Classic Rock was there — read our complete review of the show here.) It's reportedly airing on "select stations," so viewers are advised to check their local listings for detailed information about specific dates and times.
The Melrose concert saw Tyler performing with the Nashville group Loving Mary, whose ranks include frequent Aerosmith songwriting collaborator Marti Frederiksen, and Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme also make an appearance. Loving Mary will join him when he returns to the road at the end of March for a pair of shows at the Avalon Ballroom in Niagara Falls.
While Tyler's reps schedule solo dates, he continues the lead-up to his long-in-the-works solo album, which was preceded by leadoff single "Love Is Your Name" and will soon send a second track, "Red White & You," to radio. The LP, which finds Tyler working in a country-influenced vein, has no release date at present, but Tyler has said he hopes to get it in stores sometime early this year.
