This weekend saw two movies named after their lead characters go head-to-head. In one corner, you have 'Lucy.' In the other, 'Hercules.' If you asked the average person who would win in a battle between Dwayne Johnson and Scarlett Johansson, most would probably side with the guy whose nickname is "The Rock." But the box office this weekend went in a completely different direction.
You know the drill by now: a big star hits up a late night talk show to chat, laugh, maybe play a game, plug their latest project, and show a clip. It's a standard way to do things, but you know who doesn't care about standard ways of doing things? Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. And, really, who are we to argue with him?
Do you remember the Fungo Brothers? That mismatched sibling duo who were hellbent on creating bold, innovative workout techniques that were years ahead of their time? You know them! They invented the Thigh Master before it was, well, the Thigh Master. Not ringing a bell? That's okay, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Jimmy Fallon are here to help.
The new 'Hercules' trailer is upon us and it has everything you'd want from a big summer release starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in that title role. Big battles. Bulging muscles. Mythological beasts. Screaming. Slow motion. You know, the usual.
Though Kellan Lutz didn't quite cut it as the Grecian strongman -- in fact, his film rendition kinda bombed -- the first 'Hercules' trailer featuring The Rock as the legendary hero shows the A-lister and his director Brett Ratner have at least one advantage: a bigger budget.
Earlier this year, we saw what Renny Harlin's version of 'Hercules' looked like with 'Twilight' star Kellan Lutz in the title role, but now it's time for the strongman to take center stage. Brett Ratner is at the helm of this new adaptation of the 'Hercules' story with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the role he was born to play.
'Twilight' star Kellan Lutz plays the mythic strongman in his first stint as a leading man in a feature film for 'The Legend of Hercules,' the trailer for which places him smack dab in his own origin story. But will the hunky actor with racks on racks on racks of abs be able to flex his acting muscles in the driver's seat?
The battle between the 2014 Hercules films continues today with the debut of the trailer for Renny Harlin's upcoming 'Hercules: The Legend Begins,' starring 'Twilight' star Kellan Lutz as the legendary Greek hero. The first trailer is, as we imagined, packed with plenty of shots that call to mind Zack Snyder's '300,' which has become the blueprint for films that involve Greek myth and war.
