Townsquare Pet Patrol
From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.
This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.
The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitties 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets' needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!
SUCCESS STORIES
On Friday, June 15th, volunteers from the Elgin Animal Shelter drove 15 shelter and foster dogs and puppies from Elgin to Waterloo, Iowa. Now those 15 dogs and puppies all have their 2nd chance of getting adopted, instead of sitting in a shelter just waiting for their lives to begin. Thank you to all of those that volunteered their time, money and materials to make this freedom ride a possibility.

It's all hands on deck in our efforts to get Luna adopted into her Forever Home. We are seeing the gorgeous Luna start to decline; exhibited through stress-induced weight loss, in spite of the fact that we have doubled her caloric intake.
This 4-year old Bullmastiff mix came to us as an owner surrender. She is a friendly dog, loves people of all ages and is cat tolerant. As a general rule, she gets along with other dogs; however, she can be quite possessive and jealous of her people. Luna will do best as an only dog. She walks fairly well on a leash, gives every appearance of being house-trained and has nice house manners.
Best of all, Luna is completely sponsored! Her adoption fee has been pre-paid!! All we need is for her family to find her and take her home. If you are interested in our beautiful girl, please call SCHS at 580-252-7387 and let's arrange an introduction!

“ELVIS HAS NOT LEFT THE BUILDING”
That’s right… Elvis is down here at Lawton Animal Welfare, 2014 SW 6th Street, and is looking for his new FUREVER HOME. Can you offer Elvis unconditional love? He is a male, Staffordshire terrier mix, about 1-year old, who loves attention, and being close, sitting on the couch, watching tv, and just spending one on one time with you. If that sounds like something you can offer come on down and take a look at Elvis and/or some of his temporary roommates.
All adoptable animals are up to date on their shots (age appropriate), have had their Rabies shot (if old enough), have been fixed, micro-chipped, and will have a City License issued (if we gave it a Rabies shot), as well as a health check by our Veterinarian.

The Lawton Humane Society would like to intriduce two beautiful sisters named Thelma & Louise. This pair of lab mixes are approximately 8 months old, and were found hiding from passersby in the country where their previous owners abandoned them. They were covered in ticks and their paw pads were damaged, most likely due from all the walking they did while on their adventure.
Thelma and Louise are a bonded pair and it would be best for them to go to their fur-ever home together. Both are timid at first but they are gentle and will come around quick with some love and understanding. They do well playing with other dogs once a proper introduction is done. They are unsure of what exactly a cat is but don't seem to mind them being around. Both are crate and mostly potty trained. Although Thelma (white strip on nose) loves to spend time outside, she loves it even more when she gets to spend her time cuddled up to you giving plenty of kisses. Louise is the more shy of the two but just as sweet and gentle.
Both have had their first round of vaccinations and dewormed and will have the second round of vaccinations, be micro-chipped and spayed before adoption. If you're interested in adopting these two sweethearts please contact Alicia at 580-656-6556.

Caddo is a terrier/ daschund mix who was on her own for a long time surviving on the kindness of a local tech school. It took a long time to catch her, but now she's safe and never has to experience hunger again. She suffered frostbite so her hair will never grow to full length and after spending months running from the coyotes, she does not trust other dogs. She would definitely have to be with a submissive fur friend. It takes her a bit to warm up to new people but once she does she is very playful and such a sweetheart. She is very good at keeping her room clean and uses the doggie door very well. She spent a long time on her own and needs an experienced handler.
Caddo comes with up to date, age appropriate shots, she is heart worm negative, spayed and micro-chipped. She is on monthly heart worm preventative as well as monthly flea and tick preventative. The rescue will pay for activation of her micro-chip and up to one year on monitoring. Caddo also comes with 30 days of free veterinary insurance. Her adoption fee is $140.00.
If you are interested in her please call Rainbow Bridge Can Wait at 580-654-2513 or contact us on Facebook or Pet Finder.

Petey was a stray, and ended up in our local shelter. He’s been with us a short time, but is just a fun little dog. He likes to play with toys and will sometime fetch a toy and bring it back to you. He gets along well with other dogs, and should fit into any family and make a great pet.
We are not sure what the mix is for Petey, possibly Shih Tzu/Terrier mix. He looks to be around 2 years old. He was recently neutered, all his shots have been updated, and he tested negative for heartworms and 3 tick borne diseases. Petey should not require much grooming, and depending on his mix, may be fairly non-shedding, and is also micro-chipped.
Please consider giving Petey a new home. For more information about Petey, e-mail swoan@swbell.net

This precious baby is Astro. He is our Pet of the Week. He was adopted late last year but had to be brought back when it was discovered his owner had allergies to cats. He is just over a year old and a Lynx Point Siamese with amazing blue eyes.He is good with kids and adults alike. He is also good with other cats, but not sure how he will do with dogs.
Please come round out Adopt a Shelter Cat Month by seeing Astro and making him part of your family. We are located at 2801 Sullivan St in Vernon Tx.
