From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital, highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.

This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.

The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitty 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets' needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!

Texas Flood Assistance

Our hearts go out to of those affected by the flooding and destruction in South Texas caused by Hurricane Harvey. Many agencies are actively involved in efforts to aid those in Houston and the surrounding areas, and we urge everyone to donate to help the efforts.

There are several animal groups that are in the area attempting to help animals displaced by the storm. We encourage everyone to donate time, supplies or money to these efforts. Among those currently actively working with area authorities are the ASPCA, whose Disaster Response Team is in the area and assisting those in need. Also attempting to help with feet on the ground is Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Foundation, who with a small group of volunteers has already managed to rescue more than 50 dogs and cats in just a few days.

Our thoughts, hearts and prayers go out to all those in the Houston area, and we urge you to help these organizations in any way you can.

Hi, my name is Brix and I’m a female Chihuahua, about 3-4 Years Old and I LOVE to be held. Snuggling is the best invention in the World, in my humble opinion. I want you to look into my eyes, you know what’s missing? Your reflection! I also love playing dress up, on rainy days. What do you do on rainy days? I can sit on laps for hours at a time. I just need someone who loves to show attention, and will never give up on me again.

Do you have a furever home I can go into? Will YOU Opt to Adopt? Come down to Lawton Animal Welfare, 2104 SW 6th Street, and ask for me by name, remember ASK FOR BRIX! 580 581-3218

    Rainbow Bridge Can Wait - 580 919-0439

This handsome fellow is Scooter. He is house and kernel trained although he in not a fan of his kennel. He would rather snuggle under the covers with his human. Scooter loves to go on long walks and walks very well on leash. He gets along with other dogs and cats but prefers adults and older children over smaller, younger peeps.

Scooter has some issues with food guarding but is improving. He is learning to eat in the same room with his foster siblings. He would do best on a feeding schedule to minimize food guarding.

Scooter comes with agar appropriate, up to date shots. He is heart worm negative and micro chipped, on monthly heart preventative, flea and tick prevention and the rescue will pay for activation of micro chip and up to one year of monitoring. Scooter is also neutered. If you are interested in him please call Rainbow Bridge Can Wait at 580-654-2513 or message up on Face Book.

We would like to introduce B.B., a beautiful 7 year old black Miniature poodle. His owner recently moved and couldn’t take him with her. B.B. is current on his vaccinations, tested negative on heartworms and 3 tick borne diseases, and he has recently been neutered. B.B. has slept quietly in a crate by the bed or in with another canine buddy.

B.B. has gotten along well with all his new canine friends, as well as his new foster parents. He was very tolerant during his visit to the vet office, and should make a really good family companion; all he needs is a chance.

For more information about adopting B.B., e-mail swoan@swbell.net..
