Last Chance To Ride Old School Train in Oklahoma This Weekend

Every year, the Oklahoma Railway Museum in Oklahoma City hosts weekend rides on their classic trains. This weekend, Saturday, August 17 is the last day of the summer that you'll be able to hop on the express.

What To Expect

You can expect a comfortable and beautiful ride on the vintage locomotives and passenger coaches.

Remember to arrive early, as passengers must be in their seats 15 minutes before you head out. The train leaves the depot at 3 different times:

• 11:15am
• 1:15pm
• 3:15pm

To make sure you're getting the full, authentic train-ride experience, you have to purchase your ticket and make sure you're seated properly when you board. After all, the train's really are a big deal.

They do have options for those in wheelchairs to also join the ride, you'll just need to speak with the ticket office when you arrive to purchase your tickets.

Other Chances To Ride The Train

Once the train closes down for the summer, the Railway Museum staff prepare for their highlight events of the fall and winter: the Halloween Ride and Polar Express.

For the Halloween ride, think less of "Harry Potter" and more like "Halloweentown" vibes. The fall foliage should have kicked in by the time they prepare for the ride, so you can expect some gorgeous views through the windows.

The Polar Express ride is their most popular throughout the year and has even already opened for ticket sales right now. If you want an authentic Polar Express experience, it's best to purchase your tickets early.
