Oklahoma Business Donating 100% of Profits To Texas Flood Victims
In order to help those who've been impacted by the tragic flooding in Texas, this business in Oklahoma City has agreed to dedicate one day to giving back to the victims. The Truck Yard in Oklahoma City and Second Rodeo Brewing in Fort Worth, TX announced that 100% of their profits raised on Wednesday, July 9, will be donated to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.
Although money cannot bring back the heartbreaking number of people lost to the flood, the funds are meant to help to assist with rescue relief, recovery efforts and flood assistance.
There are also efforts from other local community members in Oklahoma determined to help our red river neighbors in any way they can.
Money raised Wednesday, July 9 at The Truck Yard & Second Rodeo Brewing will be donated to the 501(c)(3) serving Texas Hill Country.
According to the announcement from the Truck Yard Oklahoma City, "The Community Foundation (a 501(c)(3) public charity serving the Texas Hill Country) will direct funds to vetted organizations."
"We look forward to seeing you this Wednesday–every purchase you make will directly contribute to supporting recovery efforts and helping our neighbors in need," they wrote.
Those who want to donate to the cause, but aren't able to do so through purchases at the businesses, can donate to the charity directly by visiting their website here.
Other local efforts in Oklahoma dedicated to helping Texas Flood Victims
While some may not be able to donate their time or money to The Truck Yard, there are a few other efforts being organized.
For example, the Brown's Durant Funeral and Cremation Service announced that they would be traveling to Kerrville on July 16 with relief supplies they're gathering now.
"We have researched and the most needed items are: hygiene items, bleach, brooms, shovels, trash bags, diapers, socks, baby wipes, bug spray, granola bars and jerky. Perishables are being discouraged at this time," they said.
"If you have wondered what you can do, here is your opportunity!"
Other ways community members have been helping include sending volunteers to assist in recovery and clean up, like the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief.
Hopefully, we can help our Texas neighbors rebuild.
