WATCH: Dog in Tulsa Starts Housefire with Lithium-Ion Battery
A video recorded at a home in Tulsa of a dog starting a housefire has surfaced. One of the pups thought that the famiy's lithium-ion battery would be a good chew toy and found out the hard way that it wasn't.
"Lithium-ion batteries are known for storing a significant amount of energy in a compact space. However, when this energy is released uncontrollably, it can generate heat, produce flammable and toxic gases, and even lead to explosions." -Tulsa Fire Department
This situation definitely could've been worse, but luckily the animals were able to escape the home through the doggy door and were safe in the end.
You really should pay attention to what you leave around in the house before you leave. The things you usually tell yourself "they would never chew" end up becoming the less-than-perfect snack.
Everything is a Dog's Chew Toy
Here are some of the strangest things that dogs have eaten or chewed, according to reddit.
- False teeth
- Steve Madden heels
- Albuterol inhaler
- Siding from the house
- Fiber One bar
- Duraflame Log
This definitely took the cake, but you have to read the whole comment to really appreciate the dog's decisions that day.

And you might think that these are all puppies, right? Actually, plenty of older dogs still chew things up; whether they're bored or they want to get back at their owners (it's true).
The next time you leave the house, scan the room before you do - see anything you wouldn't want to become a new chew toy?
