If you missed the original story, the long and short of it is as follows... There's a traveling food festival company currently making their way around the country. It seems that most, if not all of the towns they've hosted their Taco & Margarita Festival so far this year have had attendees crying foul over what was delivered vs what they were promised. It's turning into a Fyre Festival situation at a rapid pace.

How this story started was a hoard of warnings from the people that attended the Buffalo, New York taco festival. They appeared on a few different Oklahoma and OKC reddits sharing what they experienced, and offered an advisement of a supposed ripoff headed for the OKC Ballpark this Saturday, September 11th.

We all know, nobody cries louder than those who feel cheated and this was no exception... but as you dig further and further into the story, you read articles in city after city talking about how much of a letdown this event was based on promised expectations. One states attorney general has even gotten involved, investigating an old fashion bait and switch situation. It's been a pretty crazy couple of days.

Now, seeing the outcry and accusations of the food festival company, it came time for the OKC Ballpark to make a decision, and they've opted to cancel the contract with the festival vendor so they don't become wrapped up in what will turn out a wild story.

From the OKC Ballpark events website:

We have terminated the event contract with the third-party promoter who planned to host the Taco and Margarita Festival at the ballpark on Saturday, September 11. We agreed to book this event with the third-party promoter months ago. Since that time, additional information came to light regarding the ability of the third-party promoter to deliver on the event experience that was promised to ticket purchasers at similar events in other cities. What we have learned makes it clear that a similar event in Oklahoma City would not meet our expectations for hosting events in our ballpark. Unsurpassed customer service is the cornerstone of our business, and we are not confident that this third-party event would have delivered on those expectations. We will be issuing full refunds to all ticket holders for this event.

While it is a bummer that this festival of tacos isn't happening, at least you know there are still people and organizations out there looking out for their fellow man. At least that's one way to look at it. It's cancel culture for sure by those who feel slighted, but in this case, it's actually a good and proper way to use that culture.
