Meet Vincent Van Goat, Adorable Goat Up For Adoption At The Lawton Animal Welfare
Hate weed wacking in this heat? Lonely at home and need a little entertainment?
We goat you!
Recently, the Lawton Animal Welfare has welcomed a guest that we suspect won't be staying long. Please meet Mr. Vincent Van Goat, or Vinnie, as they lovingly call him. He's an adorable, 21-pound bundle of fun all wrapped up in a Nigerian dwarf body.
Somehow, he's been at the Animal Welfare since July 17, 2025, waiting to be adopted. While we're sure everyone in Lawton would love to bring him home, it's important to consider that his new adopters must live outside of Lawton city limits.
But if you're in the market for a wether that's "pint sized but full of charm," then you're just in luck.
Goat starting kit: what you need to know beforehand.
If you've already owned goats before, or currently have your own, then these will all be common sense tips for you. But if you're considering bringing Vinnie home as a first time goat owner, there's a few things you should know.
Goats are social animals and should usually be around other "large" livestock. Since Vincent is a Nigerian dwarf goat, which usually only grow to be around 40 to 60 pounds, he could stand to be around other medium-sized livestock. But ideally, goats thrive in herds or multiple animal settings.

While many other livestock manage fences and pens fairly well, goats can be tricky little boogers. Make sure to have a secure area built for them already and check for weak spots. They can get creative and find ways to push against a fence, push along the bottom, or find ways to jump over a shorter fence.
Don't let the horns intimidate you on this adorable boy. The horns on Nigerian Dwarf goats generally grow only 8 to 12 inches. Since Vincent is already six months old, research says that he's better off with the horns left on.
Lastly, they may eat everything, but it's important that always have something. They really enjoy brush, tree branches, poison ivy and blackberry bushes, according to Insteading, an expert homesteading YouTube channel.
How can you adopt Vinnie the Goat?
Updated July 29, 2025: Vinnie was adopted the same day he became available through the Lawton Animal Welfare "in record time," according to the staff.
Vincent is waiting for his new owners at the Lawton Animal Welfare at 2104 SW 6th Street in Lawton. New owners must live outside of city limits and there is a small adoption fee of only $63.25.
The Animal Welfare is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m). Saturdays, they are open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
