An anticyclonic tornado spins the opposite direction than most other tornadoes due to the differences in pressure, updraft and inflow variations. According to the National Weather Service, "In the Northern Hemisphere, nearly all of the tornadoes that occur rotate in a counter-clockwise ("cyclonic") direction." Only about 1% of tornados are truly anticyclonic, making it incredibly rare.
Another terrifying truth about Oklahoma's tornadoes is that seeing them at night is not an unusual sight. Just days after this video was posted, an iconic evening on Oklahoma's history happened on May 6, 2024. That evening, at least 4 tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma and lingered into the early morning hours, according to The Oklahoman. This series of tornados claimed at least one life and demolished towns like Barnsdall, Oklahoma.
The recent Sulphur, Oklahoma EF4 tornado also crept in the middle of the night, causing one of the most anxiety-driven situations for survivors. The first tornado came through and leveled the majority of the town, trapping some families in debris. While emergency personel rushed to help these families, they immediately had to take shelter again as another tornado followed behind the first.
Nighttime tornados have been suspected to be more deadly than ones that appear during the day, "more than twice as likely," according to research. Commentors on this video don't have to be from Oklahoma to understand just how deadly these freaks of nature can be.
Some aren't sure about the validity of the video, claiming that it is a bit to closely timed to the sound the user attached; however, she proved it couldn't be faked since she attached a different sound in another video.
