What seems to be the first 24-hour songwriting contest in Oklahoma is happening March 14, 2025. Winners of the contest will walk away with several prizes, including up to $2,500 for the first place winner. The challenge is simple, yet difficult for anyone wanting to put their songwriting and music production skills to the test.

First ever Wrecords contest awarding artists for writing & producing a song in 24 hours.

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) in Chickasha, Oklahoma is hosting a new songwriting contest, Wrecords. The basic premise of the contest is simple: artists have 24 hours to write, record, produce a full track - but there is a catch.

At the start of the contest, artists will be given three requirements for their songs. The organizers of the contest will select a genre, lyric and instrument that must be included in their track.

Although the competitors don't have to be present for the contest itself, winners will need to be available to receive their prizes on Saturday, March 29 at the Legends Pub House and Music Venue in Chickasha.

Prizes for the Wrecords contest include money & performance opportunities.

Prizes are awarded for the top three songs produced for the contest. The prizes will be awarded as followed:

  • Third place will receive $750.
  • Second place will receive $1,250.
  • First place will receive $2,500 and a professionally produced music video.

Artists of all styles will be able to participate in Chickasha, Oklahoma's Wrecords contest

Each person will have to pre-register and pay a small $5.00 registration fee when signing up.

Artists will be able to use technology to help the recording process and to help create the song. AI will be allowed to be used to write lyrics, under the condition that artists disclose where the lyrics came from.

If an artist is unable to physically play an instrument that they are given as a requirement for the contest, they can digitally include the instrument in the recording.

All contestants must be 18 years old or older and they do not have to be from Oklahoma in order to participate. To get signed up, click here.
