Young Lawtonian Stars in ‘Annie’ for Second Time
Cassie Magrath is just ten years old, yet, she is gearing up for her second starring role as 'Annie', the musical opening next week, November 4-7 at the McMahon Auditorium under the direction of Lawton Community Theatre.
Cassie attends Woodland Hills Elementary, but her acting bug hit just a few years ago when she announced to her Mom that she wanted to try acting. She tried out for and got a part in the ensemble cast of 'Jack and The Beanstalk' with Lawton Community Theatre, but didn't stop there. She also auditioned for a major cast part in 'Mary Poppins' in Oklahoma City, and was able to secure that part as well. Cassie is a twin, with a twin brother, an older brother, and a younger sister.
Cassie says that she started singing at a very young age, and has no problem memorizing song lyrics or lines from the play. In fact, she even knows lines from other actors in the production.
We were able to meet this amazingly talented young lady this morning, and interview her about the upcoming production. Here's our full interview:
Cassie also starred in 'Annie' last month in Altus, Oklahoma. She actually auditioned for the Lawton production at the same time she was in rehearsals for the Altus production. This little girl's star is certainly on the rise! Looking forward to seeing where she goes from here.
Lawton Community Theatre is a United Way partner agency, and is continuing plans for relocation to the Old National Guard Armory.
'Annie' opens on Thursday, November 4th, and runs through Sunday, November 7th at McMahon Auditorium. For tickets, call 580-355-1600, or visit www.lctok.com.
