Did Cache Road Improvements End After The Election?

Earlier this year, we did a checkup on the 2020 Capital Improvement Plan - AKA - 2020 CIP that our politicians convinced us all to vote for so that we could have new roads. As the calendar year came and went, citizens were starting to wonder if we had been duped once again about improving our roads.

Low and behold, a few months ago, orange cones and construction vehicles showed up in force on Cache Road. It looked like the political promises were finally being fulfilled. Lawton's finest road workers then proceeded to patch some of the more crumbled sections of our busiest street, leaving perfect driving surfaces one section at a time.

I'm sure every Lawton driver is thankful for the work our awesome road crews have done so far, but where did all of that work go the moment the mayoral election was over? I'm been up and down Cache Road a handful of times this week, and I haven't noticed which problem area our crews are set to fix next. Granted, I don't think the average driver goes too far out of their normal commute on any given day. Maybe they've moved on to a different area of the city since the majority of roads in this town are in such dire shape.

Some of the more cynical people I've had this conversation with this week automatically assume the construction and improvements we've gotten on Cache in the recent months were nothing but a political move to put incumbents back in favor with voters, but I don't think our elected officials are bright or bold enough to pull off shenanigans like that. Could they have used the improved roads to lessen the backlash of the new proposed mall plans? Maybe... Central Plaza or whatever name they've given the project would technically be "Capital Improvement"

All the same, maybe road work is happening with just as much gusto somewhere I don't normally drive. One coworker mentioned a big project on 53rd, but if I remember correctly, that project was ongoing with the Cache Road improvements also. We're all blind in the areas we don't see, so I could just be totally wrong for the millionth time in my life.

More importantly, where do road crews need to do their thing next? Which stretch of road is worse than the Westbound lanes of Cache Road in front of Home Depot?
