We're just over a week away from Matt Smith's final 'Doctor Who' turn in 2013 Christmas special "The Time of the Doctor," so what better opportunity for a brand-new, extended look at 11's (or 13?) final run? The Time War may soon begin anew as 'Doctor Who' faces the siege of Trenzalore, so take a look at "The Time of the Doctor" in the latest trailer!

The latest look at "The Time of the Doctor" starts off cheery enough, with the Doctor visiting Clara's family for Christmas dinner, before warning us that "seeing old friends can awaken old enemies," such as the Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels and, of course, the Silence! The universe prepares to say goodbye to Matt Smith's Doctor, but what will it make of Peter Capaldi's mysterious arrival?

Says The BBC’s official description of the special:

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars – and amongst them, the Doctor.

Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.

Additional reports claim that the special will answer a number of continuity mysteries from Matt Smith’s tenure, among them the true regeneration numbering that became complicated both by John Hurt‘s portrayal of “The War Doctor” and a regeneration used up during David Tennant‘s run.
