This year, the Elgin Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade was held on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Things kicked off at 7 p.m. and crowds were already lined up just before the parade started.
Elgin's Mayor, JJ Franscias, said there was a reason the parade wasn't held on a weekend. "This year's Christmas parade was held on a Tuesday to accomodate the schedule of the award winning Pride of Elgin Band." Holding the parade during the week allowed the Band to be able to participate in the parade.
