Foxy Brown has cast a long shadow over pop culture, with plenty of heroines paying homage over the intervening decades, and Hulu might just bring back the real thing. The streaming outlet has begun development of a new series based on the 1974 cult classic, with Minority Report star Meagan Good already in line to star.

Per Deadline, the TV version is described as a “modern re-imagining” of the 1974 film, which saw Pam Grier in the title role as a woman seeking revenge for the murder of her boyfriend by a drug syndicate. Having lobbied for the project, Good will also serve as executive producer, along with DeVon Franklin and Tony Krantz, with Empire writer Michael Spellman and Burn Notice alum Ben Watkins writing and showrunning.

The original 1974 Jack Hill film has been referenced and parodied throughout pop culture, including everything from Grier’s own role in the Tarantino-directed Jackie Brown, and Beyonce’s “Foxxy Cleopatra” from the third Austin Powers film.

The project is only in development for now, but will Good manage to carry Foxy Brown to a full series order? Watch the original trailer below.
