Having worked in downtown Lawton for almost a full fifteen years, I feel pretty confident in saying the cell service down here is the worst. It's always aggravating to be driving through the breadbasket of a locale and suddenly, the line goes silent and your call drops. This is 2021, how is this still a thing that happens anywhere in metropolitan America?

Curiously, in the last few weeks there has been a fury of activity in the undeveloped field behind the green and white auto shop at 11th and D Avenue. We've been wondering what the concrete crews had been working on until today. That's when the big trailer and crane showed up to install what looks like a new cell phone tower down this way.

Well, it looks like a cell phone tower anyway. Without any other beefy power and transmission lines in the area, what else could it be? Plus, it looks identical to the tower put up in my neighborhood recently, so I guess we're all just hoping for the best.

We just had a little pizza party in the studio conference room and it turns out, we've all been thinking the same thing. Thank goodness modern reliable cell service MIGHT be coming to the downtown area. We own our own building, so relocating the studios to a new address was never in the cards even though some real nice more centrally located areas have become available over the years.

I suppose I could research permits and really get a conclusion of what will be going up on that tower, but where's the fun in that? Having casual conversations over the possibilities is the fun part of speculation. That's how life was before smartphones, pure speculation, and it was glorious. Hope you enjoy the prospects of this project like we are.
