Rolling Stone" has put together a list of the Best Monster Movies of All Time. They put "Godzilla" at #1 and "King Kong" at #2. The order is debatable, but those two deserve the top two spots.

They also put "Pacific Rim" at #20. (Yes it bombed at the box office, but the fact is, it's a way better movie than the people who've been avoiding it probably think it is. It's not another "Transformers". Not even close.) Here's the Top 20.

1. "Godzilla", 1954

2. "King Kong", 1933

3. "Frankenstein", 1931  "Frankenstein" is a classic, but the sequel "Bride of Frankenstein" is way better. (personal opinion)

4. "The Wolf Man", 1941

5. "Alien", 1979

6. "The Fly", 1958 (The David Cronenberg remake starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis is also amazing, but it didn't make the list.)

7. "Creature From the Black Lagoon", 1954

8. "The Toxic Avenger", 1984

9. "Jaws", 1975 (Does a shark count as a "monster"? )

10. "Swamp Thing", 1982

11. "The Blob", 1958 (Like "The Fly", this one also had a GREAT '80s remake, which starred a young KEVIN DILLON.)

12. "The Day of the Triffids", 1962

13. "Pan's Labyrinth", 2006

14. "Tremors", 1990

15. "Little Shop of Horrors", 1986. (This musical version is a remake of a cheap 1960 horror flick that featured one of the earliest screen appearances of Jack Nicholson, as a masochistic dental patient.)

16. "Cloverfield", 2008

17. "The Mummy", 1932, 1999

18. "Gremlins", 1984

19. "The Thing", 1982 (When people tell you that horror remakes always suck, point to this one as an example of how they can be done right. This movie is brilliant, and infinitely better than 1951's "The Thing From Another World".)

20. "Pacific Rim", 2013

Personal note - I like Godzilla, King Kong, Frankenstein, Jaws, Tremors, Little Shop of Horrors, and Gremlins. Many of these others I had very little or no interest in at all. What is your favorite monster movie? Are there any not listed?
