Southwest Oklahoma's premiere fireworks store, King Fireworks in Geronimo, is now open for the Fourth of July season. After the signing of the Rockets' Red Glare Act by Governor Kevin Stitt, firework stores and stands across Oklahoma were able to open earlier than the usual June 15 date.

With the enactment of the Rockets' Red Glare Act, Oklahoma fireworks stands were given the approval to be open year round instead of during the Fourth of July and New Years seasons. Chris Ann Doney, owner of King Fireworks, said the superstore in Geronimo is now open, and the opening of stands across southwest Oklahoma will be determined by the local stand managers, but are expected to be open after June 15.

King Fireworks is still determining whether or not the superstore will be open year round.

The Rockets' Red Glare Act allows King Fireworks and its local stands to operate year round. But Doney is still considering whether or not the business will operate throughout the year.

She stated that "off-season operating hours are still being finalized and will be announced at a later date." She added that for now, customers are welcome to contact King Fireworks during the off season to schedule shopping appointments.

Southwest Oklahomans can get a head start with their fireworks shopping now that King Fireworks in Geronimo is open. Prior to the Rockets' Red Glare Act, fireworks stores and stands could only be open from June 16 to July 6, which is one of the to busiest seasons for fireworks.

King Fireworks will have bottle/stick rockets for Fourth of July.

Another part of the Rockets' Red Glare Acts was the legalization of bottle/stick rockets. The fireworks had been outlawed in the state for over 40 years. Doney confirmed that after June 11, King Fireworks will have bottle/stick rockets in stock at its superstore in Geronimo and at its stands across southwest Oklahoma.

2026's Hottest Fireworks Picks

Shopping for fireworks is a lot like picking out a new vehicle. While you're interested in what a car or truck can do, we generally pick based on how they look. The fireworks store is full of sensory-overload designs and hilarious images, but logos rarely tell you what it does. We visited King Fireworks in Geronimo, OK, where they have a cool scanner system that pulls up the fireworks on TVs throughout the store so you can see what you're buying, but here are their top picks and best bangs for your buck this year.

Oklahoma's Best 4th of July Celebrations

There's nothing like celebrating America's independence in the heartland, and Oklahoma practically overflows with patriotism across the state. While most towns have their own celebrations, some are larger than others. Since it would be hard to catch all of them in one day, they're spread out a bit over two and a half weeks, pick one or more and let your American flag fly.
