Why Are Kangaroos Running Loose in Oklahoma This Year?
Sure, we see a wide variety of wild animals everywhere in Oklahoma - mountain lions, deer, elk, armadillos, the list goes on. But at this point, we should call 2025 the "year of the kangaroo" for the Sooner state.
Take a look at some viral moments and hilarious run-ins with an animal we likely never would've imagined would be running loose in our streets. To be fair, these animals weren't supposed to be out galavanting; but, with hops like theirs, there's bound to be an escape or two.
Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, have to wrangle a loose Kangaroo.
Monday, December 15, officials in Tulsa County, Oklahoma had their hands full. Several deputies tried to wrangle a kangaroo named Martha until her owner came to the rescue.
Videos capture the hilarious roundup. Let's just say the academy trains officers for almost everything, but probably not trying to wrangle a kangaroo in the middle of the afternoon.

Another moment that appears to be near Tulsa, Oklahoma, happened earlier this year in September. A TikTok user recorded her experience spotting a random kangaroo in the middle of a rural road, obviously surprised by the animal's appearance.

Honorable appearances from other animals randomly appearing on Oklahoma roads.
Kangaroos are a sight, mainly because they aren't a usual pet for anyone here. Pigs, on the other hand, are actually a very common pet in our state.
But, believe it or not, they're usually better behaved and aren't running around "causing a disturbance" like the one spotted on Friday, December 12.
Once again, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, police received a report of a pig attempting a "breaking and entering" into someone's garage. They arrived to find a massive potbellied pig roaming the roads. Luckily, they were able to capture it and get it back to its owner quickly.
There are still a few weeks left in 2025. There's no telling what other crazy appearances we're going to have between now and December 31. If you spot any crazy animals in your area, feel free to send videos and photos through our app.
