Watch a Trailer for the Upcoming Keith Richards Documentary
A trailer for the upcoming Netflix documentary Keith Richards: Under the Influence finds the Rolling Stones legend working on a new album and visiting a few key historical places.
The clip, which you can watch above, features behind-the-scenes shots from the sessions for Crosseyed Heart. Among the highlights from Richards' travels is a visit to the home of the late Muddy Waters in Chicago. "I grew up with American folk music – jazz, blues, Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters," Richards says. "Rock 'n' roll's got nothing on those guys."
Keith Richards: Under the Influence was directed by Morgan Neville, who earlier helmed the Oscar-winning 20 Feet from Stardom. The documentary premieres on Sept. 18, the same day Richards releases Crosseyed Heart. That's his third studio effort away from the Rolling Stones, who have released 29 albums dating back to 1964.
"Life's a funny thing," Richards muses at one point. "Nobody wants to get old, but they don't want to die young either. You just gotta follow this thing down the path."
Neville also directed the video for "Trouble," the lead single from Crosseyed Heart. The album finds Keith Richards once again collaborating with Waddy Wachtel and Steve Jordan, both of whom appeared on his earlier solo projects. Other guests include Spooner Oldham, Ivan Neville, and the late Rolling Stones saxophonist Bobby Keys, who died late last year.
