From first responders to nonprofits, communities across Texhoma have heroes in all forms, making a difference. That’s why Kiowa Casino & Hotel is proud to support those change-makers, with its annual Hometown Heroes program.

Now through June, when guests play slots with their Kiowa Rewards card on Wednesdays, the casino will give a portion of the game play to a variety of local organizations.

“Giving back is an essential part of who we are as a Tribe and a business,” says Interim COO/GM of Kiowa Casino & Hotel, Steve Abangan.“And we want our guests to be a part of that. When they play slots, they can help people in need –while also earning rewards.”

As part of its Kiowa in the Community initiative, Kiowa Casino & Hotel’s Hometown Heroes promotion has raised nearly $300,000 in the last12 years.

“The past year has been hard for our communities, but our hometown heroes haven’t stopped giving back. They’ve continued to support people in need –and make sacrifices –so it’s our turn to support them,” says Abangan.

Despite having to shorten the typically four-month long promotion to a March and June run only during the height of COVID-19 closures in 2020, Kiowa raised more than $11,000 to help alleviate funding shortfalls and assist in equipment needs for local heroes last year.

“With economic hardship, extreme weather and an already difficult start to 2021, we know there is a huge need for funding and resources,” says Abangan. “And we’re honored to help make an impact.”
