Thanks to the Salvation Army in Lawton, Oklahoma and the Chaplains of Hope, the area now has a mobile shower for homeless community members to use. Although they purchased the trailer, they could still use the community's help to provide small toiletries to be used in the mobile shower.

The Chaplains of Hope shared the news of the new mobile shower being provided for Oklahoma's homeless population. The shower looks to be staying at the Salvation Army beside "tent city" where the majority of Lawton's homeless population have been able to live and stay safe beside the Salvation Army.

In a live video, Gary Burr from the Chaplains of Hope described the new shower addition as part of what the organization does. "It's linking our efforts together with other groups, other people and helping those that are in need."

Now that the hard part of obtaining the shower trailer is done, the work of keeping it maintained and working for Lawton, Oklahoma's homeless is another task for the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army does need donations for the mobile shower, including:

  • New washcloths
  • Body wash
  • Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Soaps to clean the shower
  • Toothbrushes & toothpaste
  • Laundry detergent

They also suggest donating any lotions, smell-good gifts that you may not have used like body sprays and washes.

For those wanting to donate items, you can donate to the Salvation Army or to the Chaplains of Hope any time between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. during the week at 3 SW 11th St. in Lawton, Oklahoma.
