We just got an update form the City of Lawton with some exciting news about the improvements and resurfacing of Lee Boulevard. It looks like we've been approved for a grant from the CARES Act, around $2 million dollars will be given to Lawton, Fort Sill to help re-do Lee Blvd. This combined with local budgets and investments of around $5.5 million will be used to finally give Lee a much needed and over due makeover.

I think most would agree that Lee Blvd has been the worst road in Lawton for as long as any of us can remember. Minus any neighborhood streets or side roads, Lee Blvd is in the worst shape out of all the main roads in town. It's a bumpy, pothole ridden, roller coaster ride, especially from 38th Street to  52nd Street. Honestly the entire road is in really bad shape and the plan is to completely resurface the entire thing.

We could be seeing road crews out working on Lee Blvd as early as late Spring. The plans are being finalized for the first section that will be re-done. They'll be starting out West and working their way East. The beginning of the project will see resurfacing from Goodyear Blvd to 67th Street. After that's done they'll start working section by section, 67th Street to 38th Street and eventually the entire road will be completed. Not too sure how long it will take but it'll definitely be worth the wait. Imagine someday driving down Lee Blvd and not have your vehicle's suspension work overtime. We might even be able to hold a drink in hand without spilling it once this is all finished. See the official press release from the City of Lawton below:
