Speaking from personal experience, it isn't uncommon to leave money for someone in the mailbox when doing business with them. You might do so because schedules don't line up or they may not be home at the time you're there to drop the cash off. Of course, this is really based on the community and area you're living in.

Although it may not be uncommon, it is definitely illegal to leave anything in anyone's mailbox if you are not a mail carrier. But, in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with doing it if the person you're doing business with is aware and gives you permission to leave the money there. And I know I'm not the only who agrees.

Community Members Skeptical That Money Was Left Unintentionally

Maybe that's why the responses were not very serious to the situation shared on the Facebook group. Many folks suspected that the money was left intentionally; according to the post, however, the money was being "sent off for testing" since the resident was not expecting to have money left for them in the mailbox.

Is Leaving Objects In Strange Places Really A Common Tactic For Attackers?

In the past, similar posts of objects being left where they shouldn't be have been shared on social media. However, in many of these cases, there was no substantial proof that the videos and posts were true. But that does not rule out the possibility of someone with ill intent trying to sabatoge what seems harmless.

There is not an update as to where this money was sent off to, or what the residents have decided to about their situation. But Oklahomans should still remain cautious of finding objects in their mailboxes that they were not expecting to be left in there.
