While workers from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) are doing their best to keep the roads safe in Oklahoma, there are drivers making it equally dangerous. Despite road conditions being dangerously slick, people are still overestimating their speed and driving. Several authority groups are urging folks to slow down.

"Yet Another Example Of Driving Too Fast For The Road Conditions"

A video released from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol public Facebook page captures another instance of drivers not being cautious enough on slick roads and even damaging OTA property.

In the morning hours on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, an OTA slow plow worker was busy clearing roads near Chandler, Oklahoma when a dash cam captured a Pepsi semi driver passing the plow on the right hand side too quickly.

As the semi driver passes the snow plow, they begin to move back into the left lane too soon and end up clipping the OTA snow plow on the back end of the truck. Unfortunately, it is not certain whether the semi driver did so because of losing control of the vehicle, or for other reasons.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol used this video to reiterate to drivers to stop driving so quickly or recklessly.

Duncan, Oklahoma Streets Department Calls For Oklahomans To Stay Home

Another authority group in Duncan, Oklahoma asked drivers to avoid specific routes that emergency services use to respond to emergency situations. They also asked drivers to avoid being on the roads at all if they don't need to be out and about.

With the way that folks have been driving in these conditions, it's best to avoid the roads as much as possible.

Let the workers do their jobs and keep the roads clear for emergency situations only. The last thing anyone wants is to be caught in an accident in these temperatures or to prevent emergency services from being able to help someone because they've blocked traffic.
