Competitions & Money at This Years' Oklahoma State Fair

Wouldn't it be nice to win a little something for your hard work? There are plenty of opportunities to walk away with an award and prize money at the Oklahoma State Fair.

How Can You Make Money at the State Fair?

Every year, the Oklahoma State fair hosts several kinds of competitions that everyone in Oklahoma can participate in. From beaded artwork, to the best schnitzle, there are 7 categories to choose from. And it looks like the competitions have just opened up!

Artwork Competitions

There are 2 artwork-related categories to look at - 1 of which is for everyone. The Creative Arts section is open and free to apply until August 15. If you have skills with cooking, china and antiques, photography, needlepoint and other fine arts and hobbies, you'll want to enroll now.

The Oklahoma Student Art Exhibition is "open to all Oklahoma students enrolled in a public or private school in grades Pre-K through 12." In the past, winners have walked away with a $3,400 worth of Hobby Lobby gift cards and even more cash. More details about individual categories are listed here.

Competitions with Animals

If you're a livestock shower, you probably already know about this show. But for those unaware, the Oklahoma State Fair is a big deal for FFA and 4-H students across the state. These livestock are also open for everyone to watch for free.

Categories include equine classes and livestock like goats, sheeps, pigs and cattle. This year, they've added a new poultry category. They also have included llamas and alpacas on the show list for 2024. For complete list information and to register, click here.

Compete with Cooking & Food

The 4-H and FFA categories have a ton of categories based around growing food, presenting food, everything and anything related to food.

But, for the adults, there are cooking categories listed under the creative arts. The wine competition has already come and gone and the winners have been announced below.

The Odd Ball Competition

And last, but not least, is the arm wrestling competition. Things get INTENSE, so the State Fair committee actually leaves registration for the day of the event: Sunday, September 22 from 12:30p.m. to 5:30p.m.
