The day broke with a blue sky.  A few clouds were up but none to hide the sunshine coming in the back door picture window where he was laying.

Murray laid there basking in the sunshine probibly knowing that today is the day.   Let me take you back 14 years to the begining of Murray the First.

My daughter Leah wanted a dog for years.  But it was never really high on the list of things to accompolish.  It was not until her Granpa passed away in January of 1997 that things changed.   Shortly after that Murray entered her life and soon attached himself  to all of us.

Murray was bouncy and so full of life.  We all adored Murray.  Even when the barking kept us up.   But no matter what Murray soon became king of the house.  He was always there to greet you when you came home.  No matter if it was from, work, school, church.  Wherever.  He was there faithfully waiting.  Never missing a beat.

But alas, the years start taking there toll.  In the last couple of years, he started losing his vision and hearing.  His health issues started to mount up.   He started to limp around as arthristis set in.  So he mostly stayed by the back door looking out and was probibly dream of his younger "pup" days when he could be outside basinking in trh yard or running through the sprinkler as it watered the lawn.

But coming full circle to this morning.  Murray looked out the back window one last time.  He knew.  He knew that he was going to a better place.  Leah told me that when he walked out the door he did not even look back.  True trooper that he is.  Got into the car knowing it was his final ride.  Proping his head out the window to let the breeze blow his floopy ears back.  Relaxed and the gentle dog we all love so well is going away today.

Relaxed and gentle.  That is how I will remember the Murray Dog.   Rest In Peace.
