New Music Releases – September 2012
The September 2012 New Music Releases calendar finds some of rock’s biggest bands helping to get the autumn off to a busy start at your local record store.
Leading the charge are “that little ol’ band from Texas,” ZZ Top, who will release their first album in nine years, the Rick Rubin co-produced ‘La Futura,’ on Sept. 11.
The ten song collection promises to honor the group’s past while keeping one eye on the future. As guitarist Billy Gibbons explains, “We wanted to recall the directness of our early stuff but not turn our backs on contemporary technology.”
Another legend who recently announced a new release for September is Bob Dylan, whose 35th studio effort ‘Tempest’ also arrives on Sept. 11. Among its ten songs are a 14-minute, highly fictionalized account of the sinking of the Titanic and a tribute to John Lennon.
You’ll also find a wide variety of essential re-issues, with Judas Priest including a vintage live concert alongside a 30th anniversary edition of their classic ‘Screaming for Vengeance,’ the Grateful Dead unleashing a massive box set from their highly regarded 1990 tour and a six-disc edition of Velvet Underground‘s most famous album.
