This year, some of Oklahoma's longest standing traditions are going out of the window for New Years. Other places are starting new traditions to welcome 2026 with their own drones shows.

Drone shows have become incredibly popular over the years, despite how costly they can be. They have a safer environmental effect than fireworks, have much less noise pollution, and are even enjoyable for those with PTSD and other disorders that are heavily affected by fireworks shows.

This year, Oklahoma is welcoming a handful of new drone shows all across the state that families everywhere will be able to watch to welcome in the new year.

Scissortail Park Drone Show - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City always hosts a massive celebration for the New Year. On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Scissortail Park will transform into a large-scale, family-friendly celebration space. They will have unique vendors, live music from "Drive," and a 100-drone light show to countdown to midnight.

This new tradition replaces the long running "Opening Night" event that usually takes place in Oklahoma City. The event is free, open to the public, and begins at 9:30 p.m. that evening.

OKANA Resort Drone Show - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

If you're looking for a nostalgic, vintage New Years experience, then you might consider getting dolled up for the New Years Eve celebration at Oklahoma's newest resort, OKANA. This year, they are hosting a Gatsby-themed countdown and festive buffet dinner.

The night ends with a countdown and vibrant drone show on OKANA beach. And, if it's anything like Christmas in Oklahoma, it just might be beach weather on New Years Eve, too. The event does require advanced tickets, which you can purchase here.

Ringing in at Redbud - Owasso, Oklahoma

Like many other towns in Oklahoma, Owasso is trying something new for New Years to wrap up 2025 (maybe it was part of their New Year's Resolutions). They are bringing back some fan-favorite performances, like the Dueling Pianos.

But, along with the live music, comedians, beer tent, and games for families, they're ending the night with a new ball drop and drone show. Bring your bells - big bells, cowbells, jingle bells - and be ready to make some noise. The celebration begins at 7 p.m.

We're sure as the year goes on, more announcements of more drone shows will come up and we will continuously update as they come out. There are at least four companies that service Oklahoma during the holiday season, and it's likely that all of them will be busy on New Years Eve.
