Here’s What Oklahoma Will Look Like In 1 Month
If all goes according to plan, fall is just around the corner. It's the one time of year that Norman won't mind a little orange in their trees, while Stillwater can tolerate some red in theirs.

It's truly a beautiful time of year - check out what else you'll be seeing this fall in Oklahoma.
Hay Decor
Even though most of our hay goes to the animals in Oklahoma, like cattle and horses, we can spare a few bales. You'll spot some pumpkin faces looking back at you on the roads or square bales lining many of our front porches. When it comes to decorating, you use what you got, including hay.
Chili Cook Offs
Who doesn't love a good chili in the fall? Since it's important to really know who makes the best chili, Oklahoma hosts numerous chili cook-off contests during the fall. Most of which happen in small towns and free fairs throughout the state.
Keep your eyes peeled for chuckwagon events, as well, which help preserve some of Oklahoma's history by serving cowboy chili using all of the old ways that settlers would've done back in the day.
Friday Football
Sports are a very big deal in Oklahoma, especially football. Since college football ranks as the most popular sport in the state, don't be surprised if you find yourself on a first date in the stadium seats. It may end up in your favor, though, since sports can bring everyone together.

Fall Foliage
We can't tell you how many times the stigma that Oklahoma is full of nothing but flat land has been rebutted. Seriously, have you not seen the entire eastern side of the state?
Or any of the 40 state parks and numerous wildlife preservation areas? In the fall, there are quite a few ways to enjoy the scenery around here - on horseback, trains, or just taking a hike down a trail.
Unfortunately, fall doesn't last long around Oklahoma, so it's best to make time when you can to see it all before Mother Nature changes her mind.
Fall Fairs
The most and biggest fairs happen during the fall in Oklahoma - both state fairs and statewide free fairs. In the beginning of September, the Oklahoma State Fair runs for 11 days. Then, the largest state fair, the Tulsa State Fair, rolls into October. If you're wanting a carnival, party-like fair experience, both fairs are great options.

Then, you have your Fall Free Fairs. Many of Oklahoma's small towns don't have much going on besides Fourth of July celebrations and their yearly fair to look forward to. Free fairs are, of course, free to attend and are usually ran by some of the local school's students and faculty. Check out the most popular free fairs happening this fall in Oklahoma here.
Pumpkin Patches
Seriously, you'll find patches everywhere in the state: in the country, in someone's front yard in the city, even at the zoo.
