After the holidays, I had the chance of a lifetime to visit Seoul, South Korea. In just nine short days, this country lived up to all of the expectations I had when I was planning the trip. Although I hadn't visited more than a handful of places, I still left reeling and wishing for more things like they had in South Korea.

One of my favorite stops was a themed café that was better than any 'Harry Potter' or wizard-themed event that I've visited here in the states. It was just one of several places I know I won't ever forget (and highly recommend if you find yourself visiting Seoul).

Since I've gotten back from the states, I've been on the hunt, trying to find the closest thing Oklahoma has to these themed cafes. Unfortunately, my search has been short lived. However, I'll share with you places that are worth the visit on your next road trip.

Visiting Themed Cafes in South Korea - From An Okie's Perspective

Coming from a girl whose only ever traveled to Dallas for unique experiences, this place blew my mind. Seoul, in my opinion, was very comparable to New York City. Lots of lights, people, cars, and sounds. Everything moved quickly and there were things to do quite literally everywhere.

@danicarsonmusic The best trip of my life ❤️ for a girl who normally has photos for everything, I wish I could’ve gotten more - but I was just too busy experiencing it! #southkorea #vacation #lovelife ♬ الصوت الأصلي - خالد

One of my favorite spots, though, was a themed cafe called 943 King's Cross. This more than just an exhibit that you experience that's only set up for a short period of time, this was a fully functional cafe.

The entire building was made to take visitors through a sort of "treasure map" to find hidden signs, interact with special effects, and ultimately win a prize before leaving. I loved the challenge in the search, I never felt like the answer was just handed to me.

And the attention to detail that the owners and designers had was impeccable; even the entrance outside was perfectly sculpted to make it feel as though you were entering a magical, wizarding world.

Immediately, when I got back from Korea, I started looking for things that were at least similar to King's Cross.

"Themed" cafes in Oklahoma worth visiting.

Unfortunately, I've come to find that Oklahoma is lacking in the "themed experiences" department. While there are plenty of places that decorate to fit a theme, there aren't many (if any) that actually give you something to experience while you visit.

But, the few that I thought would be noteworthy to visit when you're headed their direction would be:

Tulsa's Oldest Restaurants

While people love to talk about how Oklahoma is still too young to have historic things, restaurants aren't included in that thought process. The oldest in the state dates back to 1896, serving spirits and chicken since it was the Territory, but Tulsa has a solid outing of old eateries too.

Ten Iconic Oklahoma Restaurants You Have To Try

I think it's fair to say that each state probably has its own legends when it comes to restaurants. Pennsylvania has cheesesteaks, New York has wings and pizza, Texas has Franklin BBQ and Tex-Mex, etc...

Oklahoma is no different.

Birthed into statehood as a cattle state, there's no shortage of beef on any menu here, but there's a little room for chicken and fries too. Here are the absolute, hands down, best restaurants, in no particular order, everyone has to try in The Sooner State.
