Singer/songwriter Phil Collins may be calling it quits from the music business. Reportedly Phil developed hearing problems, a dislocated vertebra and nerve damage in his hands from playing the drums. But more than his slight disabilities, Phil Collins doesn't think he fits in the current music world and figures it's best to go out quietly.

“It’s a good time to stop.”  “I look at the MTV Music Awards and I think: ‘I can’t be in the same business as this’.

“I don’t really belong to that world and I don’t think anyone’s going to miss me. I’m much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely.

Phil had this to say on his official website philcollins.co.uk

1/ I'm not stopping because of dodgy reviews or bad treatment in the press.

2/ I'm not stopping because I don't feel loved, I know I still have a very large fan base that loves what I do. Thank you.

3/ I'm not stopping because I don't fit in, this was proved with "Going Back" reaching No 1 in the UK, and doing incredibly well worldwide.

4/ I'm not stopping so I can dive full time into my interest for the Alamo.

"I am stopping so I can be a full time father to my two young sons on a daily basis."  “I’m not worried about not being able to play the drums again, I’m more worried about being able to cut a loaf of bread safely or building things for my kids.”

The 60-year leaves the music industry with 13 hit singles and seven Grammys; all the same wouldn't you like to see Phil Collins stick around a bit longer?  I had the privilege to see Phil Collins in concert in Malaga, Spain in the late 1980's.  I would love to see his show again and let my kids expierence a European concert.  The show lasted 4 hours (with encores).

When is the last time you saw a show here in the US where the performers lasted more than 75 to 90 minutes?
