Currently, much of Oklahoma is suffering from an abnormal drought but mother nature could be sending some much needed moisture in the next week. But, depending on the interaction of both cold air coming from the north and warmer air coming from the south, parts of Oklahoma could see more than just rain.

Most Of Oklahoma Suffering Through Abnormally Dry Conditions

The U.S. drought monitor map shows that there are numerous areas in Oklahoma suffering from some extent of a drought currently. Large portions of western and northern Oklahoma are suffering from abnormally to moderately dry conditions.

Although many parts of Oklahoma have seen excessive fog, the minor bits of mist and spritz don't do nearly anything to resolve the drought. But the fog has definitely caused some difficulty for those both on the roads and in the skies.

Several meteorologists and even the National Weather Service Norman have been warning drivers to be cautious on the roads with fog as thick as it is.

But hopefully, forecasters calling for potential rain for next week will be right and maybe, just maybe, we'll see more precipitation than we have the last few months.

Snow, Rain, Freezing Rain and Wintry Weather Could Be Coming In Next Week

While parts of the country are worrying about incoming snow next week, weather forecasters have been keeping a close watch on portions of the central United States, including Oklahoma.

Youtube Weather Analyst Max Velocity mentioned in his most recent forecast that a class with colder air from Canada and warmer air and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico could bring a variation of snow, freezing rain, normal rain and "perhaps even some severe weather" across the central plains of the U.S.

Currently, even weather.com is forecasting showers, a wintry mix and even ice for areas like Oklahoma City. But of course, it's difficult to say if the weather forecasts will read the same even 24 hours from now, much less a week away.

Oklahoma Cold Weather Checklist

Those first big cold fronts always seem to catch Oklahoma by surprise. In one big swoop, the nearly 100° days turn into sudden freezes overnight. Easy small tasks that add up to bother energy savings and comfort in the home. They'll also allow you to avoid the big headaches and repair bills that happen so frequently in our bipolar climate.
