Yes, already! 'Sherlock''s third season opener, "The Empty Hearse," won't hit PBS stateside until January 19, but already across the pond UK fans are preparing for the great detective's third finale, hopefully for a bit less biting cliffhanger this time around. The first trailer for "His Last Vow" has arrived, turning our stomachs with the introduction of Charles Augustus Magnussen!

You're hereby warned of spoilers both for 'Sherlock' season 3 premiere "The Empty Hearse," as well as last night's UK airing of the wedding-tastic "The Sign of Three," but could Sherlock be headed to the grave once more? The first trailer for season 3 closer "His Last Vow" formally introduces us to the sinister Charles Augustus Magnussen (Lars Mikkelsen, brother to ‘Hannibal”s Mads), only briefly glimpsed in the January 1 premiere.

"I've dealt with murderous psychopaths," Sherlock warns in the new spot. "None of them can turn my stomach like Charles Augustus Magnussen." Later, Sherlock's brother Mycroft (Mark Gatiss) cautions, "You go against Magnussen, and you will find yourself going against me."

Says the BBC of 'Sherlock''s season 3 closer:

In the final episode of this new series, written by Steven Moffat, a case of stolen letters leads Sherlock Holmes into a long conflict with Charles Augustus Magnussen, the Napoleon of blackmail, and the one man he truly hates.

But how do you tackle a foe who knows the personal weakness of every person of importance in the Western world?

Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Sherlock Holmes, with Martin Freeman as John Watson, Mark Gatiss as Mycroft, Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade, Una Stubbs as Mrs Hudson, Amanda Abbington as Mary Morstan, Louise Brealey as Molly Hooper and Lars Mikkelsen as Charles Augustus Magnussen.

Just so long as no one goes near any rooftops, all should be fine! "His Last Vow" airs in the UK on January 12, while American viewers can catch the season 3 premiere on PBS January 19. The BBC has yet to commission an official ‘Sherlock’ season 4, though reportedly Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have both signed on for the follow-up, in spite of their increasingly busy schedules.

Take a look at the final trailer for 'Sherlock' season 3 above, and give us your predictions in the comments! What ghastly cliffhanger will we be left on this time, you think?
