Thanksgiving Foods Oklahoma Pet Owners Should Know Are Good And Bad
Turkey day is just about here! Chances are, if you're living in Oklahoma, you're one of majority of families who won't just be having two legged family over for the holidays. As eager as some of us are to include them in our holiday meal, it's important to remember some foods aren't as good for them.
Luckily, though, there are foods you can feed them a little of if you're so tempted!

Depending on who you're hosting for Thanksgiving, a lot of people actually leave the dogs locked away. I know with a family as large as ours, we had a hard time making sure the dogs weren't in people's way or begging for food during the meal. But after everyone has had their fair share and it's time to pack up leftovers, there are a few things that you can feed in small portions to your pets. Portioning is just as important for use as it is for our furbabies.

Thanksgiving is the one day out of the year that we eat the most calories in one sitting. On average, most people eat around 2,092 calories at the Thanksgiving dinner alone - not including beverages, desserts, leftovers or snacks beforehand. It's no wonder that this holiday tends to be the one we gain the most weight.
The issue is the same for animals, too, if we're not too careful. Although a lot of the foods we eat at the dinner table are safe for us to eat, not all of them are healthy to animals. I'm not talking about toxicity, either, although there are quite a few that are toxic to cats and dogs.

But some foods like cooked bones pose a choking hazard and risk splintering in your pet's mouth or throat. Some foods can cause severe gastrointestinal problems and make your pet vomit, have diarrhea or even constipation.
As a general rule of thumb, you should always consult a veterinarian if you're worried about allergies your pet may have or how much they should or shouldn't have. But thanks to ol' Google and several other clinical websites, check out popular foods that may or may not be a good choice to feed your pet.
