Life is too short to work a job that you don't enjoy. If you like the outdoors and the idea of working with wildlife, maybe the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation is the perfect place for you to earn a living.

Spoiler, at the moment they're not hiring game wardens. There's no badge and gun, or expectation to interrupt a sportsman's day by making them prove their innocence... these are all (mostly) fisheries jobs.

By far the biggest reason Oklahoma remains a fishing destination is the hard work and dedication our fisheries staff dedicate to creating a balanced outdoorsman's paradise within our waters.

In the fisheries, several species of natural and hybrid fish are grown in order to stock our manmade lakes, providing recreation for all anglers. The work they've done over the last thirty years with our largemouth bass populations is second to none, not to mention those hard-fighting hybrid striped bass.

ODWC is currently seeking technicians for the Holdenville hatchery. With a two-year biology degree or relevant experience, you could hop on board and be part of the only governmental work that matters.

The state is also seeking to hire an assistant hatchery manager down in Durant. It requires more education and experience, naturally, but it shows that there is room to grow within this sector.

There is also a clerical job tied to the federal grants process available. It's too far out of my personal depth to describe, but if you fit the bill, you can apply for it and all of the other jobs they're recruiting for here.
