It's been a long time coming since we've a lineup this big involved in a movie as iconic as "Twisters" is sure to be, but believe me - Universal Pictures did not disappoint.

Among the thirty-two artist line up, there are even a few Oklahomans sprinkled in, coming from the humble beginnings of Red Dirt music in Stillwater and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Stillwater born Wyatt Flores and Tulsa band Wilderado will be featured on the sequal, coming on July 19, 2024.

Oklahoma and Texas were the stomping grounds for the very beginnings of true Red Dirt music, with the true origin story coming from Stillwater, Oklahoma. Rather than this genre being based around the music, the emphasis was always on the artists themselves and their raw, untapped talent that could only be truly enjoyed live. They may not be playing this way on the movie's album, but I know for certain that many artists' spot on the album had to come from these humble beginnings.

Speaking of raw talent, Luke Combs was one of the first to release his piece involved in the project this morning with the music video for "Ain't No Love in Oklahoma."

It's intense and passionate - but boy, I hope Universal did their research about tornado safety. After all, if anyone in America knows better than to run for cover under an overpass, it would be an Oklahoman. But as far as the song goes, Luke Combs knocked it out of the park, painting a true picture of how mother nature can be a saving grace and an undeniable force to be reckoned with.

Just like in the original 1996 "Twister," you can't have an iconic soundtrack without classic artists, like Shania Twain and Miranda Lambert. It's been a while since we've heard some new music from these ladies, but it seems that we'll have something never-before-heard to look forward to in July.

Thrown in with the seasoned professionals and raw talent red dirt artists are the hot-toddies that have been on everyone's playlists for the last 2 years at least, like Tyler Childers, Lainey Wilson, Bailey Zimmerman and... well pretty much the rest of the list. These are what I call the "hidden gems" of music that for sure won't be hidden anymore once the movie comes out.

For the most part, the world seems to agree that this lineup is one hell of a good idea.

But, it seems as though the rest of the world is left with just one question... where's the Van Halen?

Maybe Universal will throw in something special before the movie comes out.. or we can appreciate the actual talent included in this lineup for one project we're already dying to see.
