It’s amazing to look back at how video game publishers marketed their releases before graphics advanced to the point of some respectability. 

Many would hire illustrators to draw a reasonable facsimile of the main characters while others would use photos of actual people that sort of resemble. Though those tactics seem absurd now, they still invoke a fuzzy sense of nostalgia.

So, the guys at GamesRadar.com decided to hop on the retro-chic bandwagon and photoshop typography from today’s top video games onto visual elements from box art of yesteryear. The result is outstanding.

We sort of miss this blatantly misleading form of marketing. We don’t miss getting ripped off, though.
