Starting next week on Monday, July 20th 2020 (07-20-20) you will be required to wear a face mask or covering to enter and shop at any Walmart or Sam's Club, including Neighborhood Markets. It was just announced that they would be making masks mandatory in all U.S. stores. Grab your mask before heading to Walmart this Monday.

The company explained that a lot of their stores around 65% of them are located in areas that already require face masks while in public or indoor areas. These mandates were implemented by local governments, but by requiring all Walmart stores to put a mandatory mask policy in place it would help bring consistency across the board. Most people are already wearing masks at Walmart while shopping. The past couple of  times I've been there more than half of the customers were wearing a face mask or covering of some kind. Not everybody but most, so this shouldn't be that big of a deal. I know there's a lot of debate about the use of face masks and it's effectiveness against the corona-virus. Personally I haven't made wearing a mask a habit but there's been times I've put it on depending on where I'm at and what I'm doing. I usually have a mask and bandanna with me at all times just to be on the safe side. And because more and more businesses are making it mandatory.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lawton didn't pass some type of ordinance making face masks mandatory. A lot of other cities have already passed some type of ordinance to make masks a requirement. I know they've created, or are about to create a committee to look into it and yesterday evening they discussed it at the Town Hall meeting. No vote yet, they're just weighing options and getting input from healthcare professionals and others.
