While fans of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series may always secretly resent the Olympic Games for not recognizing Quidditch as an official sport, that doesn’t mean the Olympics have nothing to offer them. This past week, the newest trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premiered during the international events, offering us perhaps our most enticing look yet at the upcoming expansion of the Harry Potter universe.

As one of the few people in the world who missed out on the Harry Potter phenomenon  —  in my adolescence, it was always a series that belonged more to my younger brother‘s age group than my own, and I never bothered to go back and catch up  —  I’ve spent the last couple of months wondering how the other side must feel about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. While I have seen every Harry Potter movie, I did so more to stay on top of popular culture than out of love of the franchise. For me, Fantastic Beasts is the first time I’ve really and truly wanted to watch a J.K. Rowling movie.

This trailer in particular seems intent on mixing the imagery of American prohibition with the use of magic, making the movie something of an unholy cross between Harry Potter and Boardwalk Empire. That, plus the mobster haircut they’ve given Colin Farrell’s Percival Graves, are reason enough for me to sign on.

Here’s the full plot description for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident… were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

The movie stars Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, and Colin Farrell and will hit theaters on November 18, 2016.
