Abilene Police Arrest Two in Murder of Officer Don Allen
According to Abilene Police Chief Stan Stanridge, shortly after 6pm on Thursday evening, Abilene Police took Violetta Walter and Phillip Walter into custody in connection with the murder of Officer Don Allen.
The Walters, husband and wife, were both charged with 1st degree felony murder, which carries a punishment ranging from 5-99 years to life in prison.
Bond is set at $500,000 each.
During tonight's press conference, Chief Stanridge confirmed the identity of the two while assuring the community there are no other suspects. He also went on to say that law enforcement still has a lot of work to do in regards to this case.
Stanridge opened the press conference stating this was bittersweet news. Obviously, it still doesn't take away the pain of the death of an officer.
As previously reported, Officer Don Allen was found dead at his home in Clyde on Monday evening. Since then, Abilene Police, the Texas Rangers and FBI worked tirelessly to find the killers.
I'd say they did one hell of a job!
The Abilene Police Officers Association began a fundraiser to help Officer Allen's family with final expenses and it appears more than expected has been raised.
If you'd like to pay your respects, Officer Allen will be laid to rest on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Beltway Park Baptist Church in Abilene with graveside services in Clyde.
