Professional Pet Cuddlers Are Needed in Chickasha, Oklahoma This Thursday
Have you ever watched a puppy or kitten come out of anesthesia before? Let me tell you - you will never forget it. Sometimes it's hilarious, sometimes it's precious - either way, it's something you don't get to see often.
This week, the Chickasha Animal Shelter is asking for volunteers to help with their Spay & Neuter Clinic; or rather, they're asking for help with the animals after their surgery. While it isn't paying money, it is paying greatly in experience.
Whether you're training to be a veterinarian, are in love with animals, or just want to see something new, they could use your help on Thursday, January 22.

When the shelter animals in Chickasha go in for their spay or neuter on Thursday, the clinic professionals want to make sure they wake up with someone willing to care for them.
Volunteers will be asked to do things like comfort them as they wake up from surgery, clean them up and provide post-op care, and put them back into their crates.

There are quite a few animals that need help, so the Shelter staff have asked for volunteers to sign up for two shifts: the morning shift (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and the afternoon shift (12 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.). Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and can sign up by calling the shelter at 405-222-6093.
How do animals normally wake up from anesthesia?
Just like when people wake up from surgery, animals can have a mixed reaction when coming out of anesthesia. Most animals react the same way, though. They're usually very tired, slow to move, have a hard time balancing, and can take a while to get back to their normal self.

While animals can't spill any tea or make some wild comments while loopy from the anesthesia, they can have some hilarious reactions. You might even hear some of their wild sounds even while they're still asleep.
The Chickasha Animal Shelter is located at 203 N Genevieve in Chickasha, Oklahoma. You can find their current adoptable pets here. More than likely, the animals you help this week will not be adoptable until after they've healed from their surgeries.
