Donate to the Oklahoma Blood Institute and Help the Ukraine
You could help save a life here in Southwest Oklahoma and support the Ukrainian blood banks during a time of war by donating blood today at the OBI (Oklahoma Blood Institute). Going on now until Thursday, March 31st (03-31-22) the OBI will donate $10.00 to the Global Blood Fund that will go to support Ukrainian blood banks for every person who donates blood and forgoes a t-shirt. You'll also receive a sticker and a support Ukraine Global Blood Fund card with your donation. You'll be helping to save lives around the globe.
Donors should visit OBI.org or call 877-340-8777 to schedule an appointment. Most adults 16+ and in good health can donate and it only takes about an hour or so to do. The Oklahoma Blood Institute is located at 211 S.W. A Avenue in downtown Lawton. They're open Monday through Thursday from 8:30-am until 6:00-pm, Friday 8:00-am to 5:00-pm and Saturday from 8:00-am to 2:00-pm. You can also call (580)-350-6100 for more information and to schedule your appointment. Walk-ins are always welcome.
There's always a need for donations. The blood supply faces constant need and requires replenishing regularly. Blood and blood products have a shelf life and are perishable. Meaning if blood donors don't donate, the supply runs out. The need for blood is great and its uses in various medical applications are invaluable. From life-saving transfusions in emergency situations, surgeries of all types, cancer treatments, and more. By donating you're literally helping to save a life, possibly a friend, family member, or neighbor.
So do your part and donate blood today. You'll be helping to save lives right here in Southwest Oklahoma and in Ukraine. Both are in desperate need of blood and blood products so you'll be doing a lot of good around the world. Stay up to date with all the latest news by visiting the official OBI Facebook page here.
