Oklahoma’s Only GeoTour Hosted In Stillwater, Oklahoma

It's pretty cool to think about how treasure hunting has evolved over the years. Sure, you can get down to the nitty gritty while mud larking, or get a head start with a metal detector. But now that we have technology, the treasure hunting game has stepped up a bit.

Geocaching has become a popular sort of hide and see game. You use GPS tracking and hints online to find geocaches. These are usually ordinary items (that happen to be waterproof) hidden in plain sight, like tupperware. Inside, you'll find a log book to sign and possibly a hint to the next geocache. According to winsfieldoutdoors, some of the geocaches could have hidden treasures in them, but you must leave something for the next person to find.

Usually, the goal is just to find as many as you can, but in Stillwater, they've added a little more motivation to the game. In Oklahoma's only GeoTour, you can earn a GeoCoin by earning points based on the geocaches you find.

You don't have to be a Stillwater resident to participate, you just have to visit the website and sign up. The tour doesn't just take place on OSU's campus, either. You'll be hunting all through Stillwater's popular restaurants, shops and more, so come with your walking shoes.
