Is Driving Barefoot in Oklahoma Illegal?

It's a question that's been asked repeatedly throughout the years and for whatever reason never seems to be fully answered or settled. Is it legal to drive barefoot in Oklahoma, or really any state?

Somehow this topic came up at the water cooler yesterday afternoon and as usual, a heated discussion, more like a dispute ensued. Most of us have heard that it's illegal to drive barefoot and you could be ticketed. At least, that's what my mother always told us kids. Something about being barefoot in the event of an accident.

For whatever reason I think most of us have always thought driving barefoot was illegal and that you could get a ticket for doing so. Well, it may surprise you but driving barefoot is legal in Oklahoma and all 50 states.

That's right it's 100% legal and you can't be given a citation for driving barefoot. Despite what you've heard or been told over the years, it's not illegal. Somehow this misleading myth, or mistruth continues to be spread.

So the next time someone tells you driving barefoot is illegal you can set them straight. They probably won't believe you, the myth is that strong. Even though it's legal to do it can be dangerous and isn't recommended.
